About the role:
The primary purpose of this role is to work as a Fabricator Fitter to manufacture equipment for the defence industry. Operators will be required to use jigs and fixtures to manufacture components complying to engineering drawings and work instructions. Training will be provided to gain welding qualifications in accordance with EN ISO 15614-1.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
· To comply with the Environmental, Health and Safety Policy and identify health and safety hazards prior to the commencement of work
· To tack weld using Mig / MAG welding processes on Armour plates
· To report via approved Maintenance Reporting Procedures any equipment fault or unusual occurrence.
· To use drawings, work instructions to complete all tasks and ensure through visual / non-destructive inspection that the fabricated component conforms to the drawing.
· To use hand tools and the appropriate measuring instruments to the task.
· To complete European qualification of welder approval tests on a regular basis.
· To ensure their personal safety and the safety of all other employees is not compromised by their actions and to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with the regulatory agencies.
Booking of hours performing duties on a MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system, SAP.
What we’re looking for:
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
· A minimum of 12 months welding / fabrication experience working autonomously fabricating welded steel assemblies in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment within a recognised Company that complies to DIN 2303, BS EN 1090-1, BS EN ISO 3834-1.BS EN ISO 9001 and Quality Management System (WQMS, Quality Assurance/Quality Control).
· Experience in the use of primarily MIG (MAG and TIG desirable) welding systems including working with (HSLA) HS steels and special applications/requirements to achieve quality to BS EN ISO 5817, Quality levels for imperfections.
· Demonstrable understanding of welding / fabrication of complex assemblies including the equipment and materials used, their behaviour during the welding processes (HICC) in relation to the structure of materials, resultant properties and stress aspects.
· Demonstrable ability to read, understand and translate specifications, BS EN ISO 5817, technical drawings, work instructions and WPS/NDT Methods.
· Demonstrable understanding of Quality, Safety and Environmental systems and processes.
