About the role:
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Warehouse & Logistics Operations Manager in running the warehousing and logistics function for the entire site. The Warehouse & Logistics Operations Group Leader will be responsible for warehousing, internal & external logistics for both our bridges & boxer programmes including the receiving, storing and transfer of goods. Responsible to supervise staff, manage inventory, ensuring accuracy is maintained. Engaging with other key stakeholders, working closely with the manufacturing Managers to achieve agreed performance metrics, whilst maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
· Oversee the day-to-day warehouse & logistics operations for the site.
· Understanding of warehouse safety procedures and regulations is essential for ensuring a safe working environment.
· Implement and enforce safety and security procedures, maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment
· Responsible for the inventory control and warehouse operations including the accurate physical counting and recording of inventory, managing quarantined goods, identifying trends, and implementing procedures to minimise loss / exposure.
· Train, supervise and evaluate warehouse staff, including assigning tasks and ensuring efficient performance.
· Maintain inventory accuracy through regular audits and cycle counts, monitor stock levels and ensure timely escalation.
· Oversee the receiving of inbound goods, ensuring accuracy and proper storage, and manage the shipping of outbound goods, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
· Coordinate with other departments, such as customer service and logistics, to ensure smooth operations and timely order fulfilment.
· Monitor warehouse performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
· Manage administrative duties such as scheduling, reporting and documentation.
· Identify and rootcause issues, such as inventory discrepancies, equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
· Coach and mentor employees, providing opportunities for skill development and advancement.
· Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively managing and motivating warehouse staff.
· Knowledge of inventory and warehouse management systems, processes, and practices is crucial for maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
· Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently in order to maintain smooth operations.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for interacting with staff, customers and other departments.
· Previous experience in warehouse operations, preferably as a supervisor, is highly desirable.
What we’re looking for:
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
· HND in Logistical based discipline
· Current driving licence
· Current Forklift Truck licence
· IOSH/ NEBOSH certificate
· Extensive experience using SAP warehouse management system
· Basic knowledge of MRP2
· Experience of interactions with other stakeholders in the supply chain function
· In depth experience of warehouse management
· Experience of a Lean / JIT environment
· Able to promote and deliver a culture of continuous improvement
· Strong interpersonal skills to deliver company goals and objectives
· Effective communication style and ability to influence at all levels
· Excellent organisational skills
· Ability to work quickly, accurately and pay attention to detail
